Pioneering Visual Innovation at Outside Lands: Microsoft & Seth Troxler
For the first event in part of a series promoting the Microsoft Azure ecosystem of AI services, we created a suite of tools for Seth Troxler’s creative team to use at his headline set at the SOMA stage of Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park.
The system enabled Seth’s team to run pre-existing video content into a classification and manipulation pipeline, where text prompts generated multiple variations of imagery. These variations could then be synchronised with elements of the music.
Volta Create was also used to create audio-reactive projection mapping effects for the custom array of LED columns.
Audience Engagement via Generative AI prompts from YouTube chat: TED Talks
For the TED AI conference, we designed and executed visuals that enabled both in-person and remote attendees to contribute to the show via the YouTube livestream chat.
Viewers could simply type in “#Volta + Gen AI” along with their prompt into the chat and the result would be dynamically integrated into live event visuals via the DALL-E API.
This interaction generated thousands of unique prompts and sparked massive engagement throughout the night, evident in the surge of activity in chat and comments.
Global Interactive Show: Beatport & Pete Tong
In collaboration with Beatport and Pete Tong, we integrated our interaction platform into Twitch to power a globally synchronized live show, where audiences controlled LED wall visuals in real-time.
Audiences could change virtual camera angles, create particle explosions, change entire scenes and more via the Twitch stream.
This generated over 3,000 interactions in just one hour, averaging five interactions per user from around the world.
Live Filmed Music Video & Interactive Streaming: Imogen Heap
We collaborated with Imogen Heap’s creative team to execute a groundbreaking real-time music video for her single Last Night of an Empire.
The entire six-hour filming session was streamed to YouTube, where fans actively influenced the creative direction through the chat. Across the nine takes of the video, this approach gave her audience shared control over the final output, driving high engagement and amplifying the connection between artist and fans.
The visuals made use of our realtime AR capabilities and was shot entirely on an iPhone.
