Who is Volta for?
Volta is for musicians, DJ or any other kind of creator who wants to create 3D audio-reactive performances.
Is it really free?

Troubleshooting

Why won’t Volta open on my Mac?
You may find that when you try to open Volta for the first time, it says that Apple can’t verify us as developers. To get around this, simply right-click the Volta  app, click Open from the menu, and then click Open from the pop-up that appears. You should have to only do this once.
What are the minimum specs to use Volta?
Operating System
Windows 10 (64 bit)
MacOS 10.13+

Hardware
Processor: Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600
Memory: 12GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 1060/ RX 580- 6GB VRAM
macOS – Apple Silicon recommended. Intel based Mac currently not supported.

An Internet connection is needed for Volta to work correctly. You may need to unblock Volta from your Firewall.
Why don’t I hear anything on my stream?
You'll need to ensure that your audio is being received in Volta  before using our in-built streaming functionality. You'll need to use 3rd party software in order to route audio from into Volta from another application on your machine. On Mac we recommend Blackhole (2 channel). On Windows we recommend Voicemeeter.

Technical Specs

Where can I learn how to use it?
Click here for a series of tutorials.
Can I connect my existing music software to Volta?
Yes! You can connect anything that puts out MIDI or Audio, including MIDI controllers, CDJs, and other DAWs.
Can I stream from Volta?
You can either stream directly from Volta or output to OBS. To stream directly from Volta go to the settings menu > Stream and Record > choose your streaming platform > enter your stream key. Then whenever you are ready to stream click on the perform tab and click “stream”

To stream from OBS go to the settings menu > Stream and Record > make sure that Syphon (Mac) or Spout (Windows) is enabled. Go to OBS > Choose a Source > Choose Syphon > Choose Volta from the drop down. Make sure you have audio coming through as well from your audio source.
Can I use audio from Spotify or another streaming service in Volta?
You sure can, you can even use your microphone and have the world react to your voice. Go to Settings > Audio and you can choose what audio source you want to bring in. You will probably need to use audio routing software to run audio in from another source. Unfortunately, neither Mac or Windows computers have a way to do it natively, so you'll need to download 3rd party software. On Mac we recommend Blackhole (2 channel). On Windows we recommend Voicemeeter.
How do I save my performance?
Just click record in the navigation panel.
What else do I need other than the software?
The desire to make some next level shit. (In all seriousness that’s about it unless you want to do some cool volumetric stuff, in which case one of the iPhones or iPads with a LiDAR sensor).

Miscellaneous

Can I use Volta to shoot a music video?
Absolutely! Imogen Heap did just that. Check out her video here!
Do you handle music licensing when I’m streaming?
We do not. Please note that you are responsible for your own music licensing when streaming to 3rd party platforms such as Twitch, YouTube and Mixcloud, just as you would be when streaming with other software.
